Tirana Women4Sport Conference

As part of the Erasmus+ Women4Sport project, a conference was held on September 17th in Tirana, Albania. This initiative focuses on promoting gender equality in leadership and decision-making within the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of the Western Balkans. The project addresses structural changes in governance, examines cultural barriers, and encourages collaboration between NOCs and their federations to achieve sustainable progress. The conference aimed to highlight the project’s objectives and increase awareness of gender equality in sports organizations, emphasizing the importance of greater participation by women in leadership roles.

The event featured women holding senior positions within sports organizations, who shared their experiences and demonstrated best practices. Their success stories inspired participants to work toward implementing structural changes in their organizations.

Discussions at the conference underlined the critical role of sports organizations in shaping inclusive cultures and promoting equality within sports. Despite some advancements, women remain significantly underrepresented in governance and decision-making roles, highlighting the need for comprehensive and systemic reform.

Through a shared commitment to addressing systemic challenges and cultural barriers, the Women4Sport initiative aims to empower women and foster lasting change, ensuring equality across all levels of sports leadership.
