The Amantia Olympic Day was held at the ancient Amantia Stadium, a historic site dating back to the 3rd century BC, with a capacity of approximately 3,000 spectators. Organized by the Albanian National Olympic Committee and the Olympic Academy, and supported by national sports federations, this celebration combined sport, heritage, and Olympic spirit within the framework of the traditional annual “Vajzë Fest 2025.” The word “Vajzë” means “Girl” in Albanian, symbolizing the celebration of women and girls at the heart of the festival.
As part of this event, the WOMEN 4 SPORT project was successfully implemented. The project placed special emphasis on empowering women and girls through sport, ensuring their active participation in the festivities and in the demonstrations across different sporting disciplines. By highlighting inclusivity and gender equality, WOMEN 4 SPORT contributed to showcasing sport as a platform for social progress and cultural preservation.
A defining feature of Vajzë Fest was the strong presence and active involvement of women in leadership roles from sports and other fields. Their contribution and visibility made a profound impact, serving as a powerful source of inspiration for the younger generation of girls. This intergenerational exchange emphasized the importance of role models in advancing gender equality and reaffirmed the mission of WOMEN 4 SPORT.

During the event, the Olympic Flame was lit in the ancient stadium, while athletes from various disciplines presented their sporting skills. The involvement of women and girls, in line with the objectives of WOMEN 4 SPORT, created a vibrant and inspiring atmosphere, reinforcing both the Olympic values and the project’s mission to advance opportunities for women in sport.
In this way, the Amantia Olympic Day not only celebrated Albania’s rich historical and cultural heritage but also provided a strong platform to promote gender equality in sport, bringing the spirit of WOMEN 4 SPORT to life.
