The Women4Sport (W4S) project was prominently featured at the 2nd Athletes’ Forum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized by the Olympic Committee of BiH in cooperation with the International Olympic Committee. As part of a dedicated panel discussion, project representatives presented the key results and progress achieved toward strengthening gender equality within sports governance structures.
Panel participants included:
Ema Habul, Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina;
Amra Džuho, Verlab Institute;
Marko Divković, Bravo;
Nadia Schweiger, Olympic Committee of Slovenia;
Maja Peković, Olympic Committee of Montenegro;
Mia Bačić and Tea Rozman, Olympic Committee of Croatia;
Gerti Shima and Ingrid Jegeni, Olympic Committee of Albania.
The panel highlighted the current state of women’s representation in leadership and decision making positions within the National Olympic Committees of the participating countries. The latest data published in the project’s e Registry were presented, offering a transparent and evidence based overview of gender balanced governance across the region.
These data play a crucial role in shaping new initiatives and projects, as they support informed decision making and help identify priority areas where additional efforts are needed to improve gender equality in sport.
Speakers also reflected on the feedback collected from participants of the W4S capacity building workshops, designed to empower women through skills development, networking, and mentorship. Based on these workshops, action plans have been developed to guide National Olympic Committees in their continued efforts to advance gender equality and strengthen the position and visibility of women in sports leadership.
The final meeting of the Women4Sport project at the Athletes’ Forum marks an important step in increasing the project’s visibility and reinforcing partnerships aimed at creating a more inclusive and gender balanced sports environment.
